ARTIST NOTES: This photograph of a butterfly was taken in 2013 in the War Memorial garden of Sandakan in Borneo with the bright red of roses in the background. As was the case everyday it was hot, humid and tiring. I can only assume the butterfly thought so because it plunked itself down on the flower in question and didn't move for a sufficient period that I could properly focus with a narrow depth of field which otherwise would have been impossible. Alternatively the butterfly had been to acting school and was well aware of how it should behave in terms of direction in a photo shoot!
